M Apart Bogema

Rating: 9.9.

Location: Aptekarsky Lane, 4.

Cost: from 5477 rubles. for two people per day.

The apartments are located ten minutes from Nevsky Prospekt in a mysterious house with obelisks: it was here in November 1916 that a meeting of conspirators against Grigory Rasputin took place. Decorative elements remind of this: on the first floor of the hotel, the monogram DR in honor of Dmitry Romanov (cousin of Nicholas II), one of the instigators of the massacre of the elder, has been preserved on the fireplace.

In a modern apartment hotel with painted wallpaper and multi-tiered chandeliers, high ceilings and excellent views of St. Isaac’s, the Savior on Spilled Blood and St. Petersburg roofs await you. Lovers of luxurious interiors should take a closer look at the suites: the Art Deco rooms are decorated with tropical panels, and the plumbing and chandeliers are made of brass. In the evening, you can turn on the LED candles in the room, and a romantic atmosphere is provided. And the apartment has a smart speaker “Alice” connected to the TV.

It was possible to rent an apartment in the Briskorn apartment building back in pre-revolutionary Russia: it was here that Lilya Brik lived from 1915 to 1918. Later, at one of the parties, the translator met her future common—law husband, Vladimir Mayakovsky.

Briskorn Apartments will appeal to the regulars of fashionable establishments, because from here it is close to the famous restaurant streets of St. Petersburg. It is enough to leave the hotel and you will be whirled into a whirlpool of bars, cafes, clubs: nearby you can taste real Neapolitan pizza, vegetarian burgers and homemade liqueurs.

«SokromaOlenin Mansion”

Rating: 8.8.

Location: Fontanka River embankment, 101.

Each hotel in the Sokroma Group chain has an unusual design. The Olenin Mansion, in particular, consists of several studios decorated in the spirit of Pushkin’s time: here you will find vintage furniture, mirrors in gilded frames, antique lamps and many paintings. There are duplex rooms that are suitable for families with children.

The house on the Fontanka Embankment has a remarkable history: in the XIX century, fashionable literary evenings and balls were held here. You will live in a place where the cream of the St. Petersburg intelligentsia gathered — for example, Peter Vyazemsky and Ivan Krylov, and even “our everything” — Alexander Pushkin.

The mansion will be a convenient starting point for moving around the city: the Sennaya Ploshchad metro station is a seven-minute leisurely walk away, and the Hermitage can be quickly reached by taxi.

Apartment “1912 on respectable Petrogradka”

Rating: 10.

Location: Bolshoy Prospekt Petrogradskaya Side, 102.

Cost: from 4874 rubles. for two people per day.

The Petrograd side is famous not only for the Peter and Paul Fortress, the cruiser Aurora and the St. Petersburg Planetarium, but also for apartment buildings resembling castles. In one of these buildings there is a spacious two-room apartment “1912”.

In 1905, a Soviet architect and rector of the Academy of Arts, Andrei Belogrud, lived in a house on Bolshoy Prospekt (the street received its modern name back in the 1800s). The apartment has preserved antique furniture and the library of the former owner. The balcony overlooks the Bolshoy Prospekt of the Petrogradskaya side, and other Windows overlook the courtyard-well — is there a more St. Petersburg location for living?

Overlooking Isaakievsky or Vaska: which area of St. Petersburg to choose

If the number of St. Petersburg hotels makes your eyes run away, our guide to the best areas of the city will help you. Whether it will be a hotel in the Palace District, where most of the attractions and museums are concentrated, or a hotel on Rubinstein Street, famous for restaurants and cafes, is up to you.

“Penthouse of the Eliseev brothers”

Rating: 9.1.

Location: Lomonosov str., 14.

Cost: from 16,992 rubles. for two people per day.

The apartment building in which the apartment is located was built in 1891: Grigory Eliseev, a representative of the iconic trading dynasty for St. Petersburg, lived here. The eclectic style building, lined with fine bricks, is considered an architectural monument. And there is also one of the most beautiful front doors of the city. While other tourists are just booking an excursion here, you will have time to inspect the stucco, columns and an elegant rosette on the ceiling of the dome several times.

We will also reassure practical people: the apartment has two bathrooms, a separate bedroom and has everything necessary for a long stay of three guests, from capsules for a coffee machine to toothbrushes.

Loft-style apartments are not inferior to the front in aesthetics: these are three-meter ceilings, many windows, wide window sills and stucco.

“Orlov’s House”

Rating: 9.9.

Location: Voznesensky Prospekt, 18.

Cost: from 8176 rubles. for two people per day.

Fans of eclecticism in the interior will like it here: bright velour sofas in the living room and kabanchik tiles in the kitchen side by side with a vintage table on cast-iron legs from Singer and a real Dutch oven. The latter is not a design idea at all, but the legacy of the house: at the beginning of the XX century, such heating devices in residential premises were considered the norm. Each apartment was provided with a woodshed in the basement.

Once there was an apartment building in the building: the second and third floors were occupied by wealthy people, and peasants, artisans and workers rented housing in the upper rooms. In Soviet times, the premises were converted into communal apartments, but the layout has not changed. You will notice the decor of the last century in the front rooms: tiles with geometric ornaments on the floor and wrought-iron railings on the stairs. And the sand building itself with ornate bas-reliefs depicting plants is worth staying at the facades for a minute or two.

Apartments “D Apartments at the Admiralty”

Rating: 8.9.

Location: Gorokhovaya str., 4, St. Petersburg.

Cost: from 13,339 rubles. for two people per day.

In the eclectic interior of D Apartments with blue-painted walls, large windows and a vintage chest of drawers, you can make a bright thematic photo shoot or a love story shoot — in case you go to St. Petersburg with your loved one. You can book one of the studio apartments: each has a double bed with orthopedic mattress and a kitchen area with a refrigerator, kettle, microwave, hob and dishwasher.

Gorokhovaya Street is one of the oldest in the city: it can be found on the plans of 1710. Merchants, nobles, writers, singers and composers loved to settle here. And in the house where the apartments are located, in the 50s of the XX century, the ballerina Agrippina Vaganova (her name is the St. Petersburg Academy of Russian Ballet) and her student, Fairy Balabina, lived. The artists served as inspiration for the decor: authentic posters of performances decorate the walls of one of the rooms.

Try to deviate from the canons and book a truly unique accommodation in St. Petersburg instead of a chain hotel. It can be an apartment with authentic pre-revolutionary newspapers and stucco on the ceiling or an apartment decorated in the spirit of Pushkin’s time. It’s easy to find them on the Island.
