Travelers in Greece are fined for wearing the wrong shoes

Путешественников в Греции штрафуют за неправильную обувь

The law prohibiting high heels at historical sites such as the Acropolis and the Epidaurus Theater was passed in 2009, but fines have only recently been applied.

Violators can receive a fine of up to 900 € or even be arrested. Therefore, it is best to wear flat shoes on the territory of historical monuments, so as not to damage the marble surfaces.

A similar law is in force in Italy, where heels in historical places and being near monuments while intoxicated are also prohibited.

And in Greece, there is a fine for the incorrect location of deck chairs. We talk about it in the blog.
