Asian airlines ban charging devices via powerbanks

Азиатские авиакомпании вводят запрет на зарядку устройств через пауэрбанки

No powerbanks on board the plane! Thai and Singaporean carriers came to this decision.

They decided to restrict passengers from using powerbanks to charge devices on board. These airlines include Thai Airways and AirAsia, which have been imposing restrictions since March 15, 2025, as well as Singapore Airlines and Scoot, whose decision will take effect on April 1, 2025.

All of these airlines allow external batteries to be carried in hand luggage. The permissible power is up to 100 Wh (27,000 mAh) without additional approvals, and batteries from 100 Wh to 160 Wh (up to 43,200 mAh) will require prior approval from the airline.

Earlier, Jazeera Airways completely banned the transportation of powerbanks in hand luggage, and Air Busan limited their transportation, allowing them to carry batteries only in their hands.
