The last week of March will coincide with the school holidays, while children who study in trimesters will rest a little later, from April 8 to April 14. What’s not a reason to arrange a family outing? One of the most popular spring destinations is St. Petersburg. Editorial Office Ostrovok.ru I have collected ideas for parents on how to entertain a child in the cultural capital and at the same time relax themselves.
Sign up for children’s tours of the Hermitage. The main museum of St. Petersburg organizes themed excursions for children. There are programs with an emphasis on fairy tales, myths and legends for young visitors up to five years old, a sightseeing tour of the halls of the Hermitage for older children and a story about the life of the museum during the blockade for teenagers.
To see the country in miniature in the museum “Grand Layout of Russia”. This is a chance to explore the entire territory of the country from the Baltic Sea to the Pacific Ocean, recreated in a puppet world.

Go on an educational walk or quest. There are many suggestions: children and parents can walk in the footsteps of Peter the Great in New Holland, draw a map to rescue prisoners from the Peter and Paul Fortress, find the invisible bridge next to St. Isaac’s Cathedral or find griffins and sphinxes throughout the city.
Learn more about space at the planetarium. A time—tested entertainment with an educational element is immersion in the world of space in the planetarium. You can choose the classic St. Petersburg Planetarium, which was opened in 1959 and remained one of the largest in Russia, or the new “Planetarium No. 1”. The latter was opened in 2017 in the former building of the gas tank, a reserve for gas storage: so the factory premises turned into a top museum.
Send a child to the Fregat playground in New Holland. The object looks like the frame of the frigate “Peter and Paul”, and children have plenty of space here: slides, ropes, telescopes, a steering wheel — and you can climb everywhere! Children from 6 to 14 years old are allowed on the playground.

Go to a Harry Potter musical. Even if the date (April 5, 2024) does not quite fit into the framework of school holidays, but we really want to tell you about this musical extravaganza in the Harry Potter universe. The musical will take place at the Wawelberg Hotel in a hall reminiscent of Hogwarts. The plot is familiar to every potteromaniac: the confrontation of good and evil, the triwizard tournament and Harry’s battle with the Dark Lord. Guests from 8 years old are expected to attend the event.
