In the year of Karl Bryullov’s 225th birthday, the State Tretyakov Gallery organized an exhibition dedicated to his artistic legacy and the concept of the genius of the place.
The exhibition is located at 10 Krymsky Val, in halls 60-62. You will definitely make it, because the exhibition will run until January 18, 2026.
Bryullov, who was recognized as great during his lifetime, inspired such writers as Alexander Pushkin and Nikolai Gogol. The biography and work of the artist were studied from different points of view.
The term genius loci refers to the unique atmosphere of a particular place and is actively used in cultural studies. The authors of the exhibition explore how the geographical location and features of Rome, Moscow and St. Petersburg influenced Bryullov’s work, as well as what magical power each of these cities carries.
And here are a couple more museums in Moscow that are worth a visit.
