Where haven’t you been yet? Probably on Giresun Island in the Black Sea. Turkey wants to put this small and picturesque place back on the tourist map.
Some interesting facts about Giresun:
- this is the only inhabited island in the eastern Black Sea;
- it is located at a distance of just over a kilometer from the coast of the city of the same name;
- is considered one of the symbols of ancient civilization;
- it is assumed that the island was the habitat of the mythical Amazons — it is mentioned in the epic of the Argonauts’ journey;
- excavations have shown that the first settlements were founded here 4000 years ago Go back.
The Turkish Ministry of Tourism and Culture has supported a project in which the island will be improved and made more accessible to travelers.
Now it is mostly visited only by independent tourists. The authorities expect to make the place more attractive for other travelers. You can get to it by boat.
Sightseeing trails, observation decks, recreation areas, cafes and a safe pier will be created there. Work on this is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
The tender for the project will be announced within 2 months.
