Surely many people dreamed of visiting the same places as their favorite characters. So, Forbes magazine has compiled a list of destinations where various films were shot.

Bangkok, Thailand

The capital has become the backdrop for films such as “Good Morning Vietnam” and “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.” Don’t miss the famous Sky Bar in Lebua State Tower.

Lake Como, Italy

Unique landscapes and hotels such as Villa d’Este and Villa Balbianello (from “Star Wars”) make this place ideal for romantic filming.

Wadi Rum, Jordan

Beautiful desert landscapes became the backdrop for “Lawrence of Arabia” and “The Martian”. Here you can stay in glamping and enjoy the stars and Bedouin feasts. Nearby is Petra, where Indiana Jones was. Interestingly, in 2024, artifacts resembling the Holy Grail from the movie were found there.

London, United Kingdom

In the city’s hotels, you can stay in rooms where your favorite movie characters have visited. For example, the royal suite of the Lanesborough Hotel is remembered for a scene from “Eyes Wide Shut” with Tom Cruise. The Langham Hotel portrayed the Grand Hotel Europe in the James Bond film Goldeneye, and Bradley Cooper shot Tired here. The Ritz and The Savoy are featured in Notting Hill, and the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London was the filming location for Batman, The Bridget Jones Diary, and Harry Potter.

Tokyo, Japan

The scene from “Translation Difficulties” with Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray, filmed at the Park Hyatt Tokyo, is memorable. Panoramic New York Bar has become popular among tourists. In “Wolverine” with Hugh Jackman, there is also a scene at the Zojoji Temple. The streets of Tokyo are captured in the Tokyo Drift from the Fast and the Furious franchise.

Hawaii, USA

Fans of Jurassic Park should visit the Kualoa Ranch on Kauai. Here you can explore filming locations such as Manawaiopuna Falls and Allerton Garden.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

The 1996 remake of Evita starring Madonna was filmed in Buenos Aires, including a scene with the song Don’t Cry For Me Argentina at the Casa Rosada presidential Residence, accessible to tourists.

Salzburg, Austria

Fans of The Sound of Music can visit filming locations throughout Salzburg, including the gardens of Mirabelle Palace and the gazebo at Hellbroon Palace. Scenes from the movie “Night and Day” with Tom Cruise were also shot in Vienna.

Casablanca, Morocco

Istanbul, Turkey

Experts from ATOR also suggest visiting movie locations related to popular TV series such as “Knock on My Door” and “Kingfisher”. However, locals are already successfully capitalizing on their interest in Turkish TV series without the help of marketers.

Film tourism in Russia: from dramas to comedies

In Russia, famous films such as “Brother” and “Brother 2” make cities popular in the context of cinema. Travelers are attracted by the filming locations of highly social films, for example, “Leviathan” in Teriberka and “Geograph Globe drank” in Perm.

The municipal authorities are trying to promote more positive images. So, the Vologda region uses the comedy series “Lilies of the Valley. Such a tender love” to attract tourists to Gryazovets. The results of this experiment will be known by the end of the year, as the film has just been released.

Ostrov also managed to star in a movie about artificial intelligence “On and Ona”. Therefore, we invite everyone to watch, look for us on the screens!
