The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) has published a list of the most visited countries in the world. France has become the leader again (102 million tourists).
Spain (93.8 million) and the USA (72.4 million) are also in the top three. Next are Turkey, Italy, Mexico, China, Great Britain, Germany and Japan. In Japan, the increase in the number of tourists was an impressive 47%, due to the weakening of the yen and the simplification of obtaining visas.
Also in the ranking:
- Greece (36 million);
- Thailand (35.5 million);
- Austria (32.2 million);
- United Arab Emirates (30 million);
- Saudi Arabia (29.7 million);
- Portugal (25 million);
- Malaysia (23 million);
- Hong Kong (22 million), excluding China;
- Netherlands (21.3 million);
- India (20.6 million).
Saudi Arabia stands out in particular, with a 70% increase in tourist arrivals since 2019. The ranking confirms that Asian destinations are gaining popularity alongside classic European destinations.
