Treats cheer you up! Therefore, we have brought for you a rating of the best desserts in the world, which was compiled by the gastronomic guide Tasteatlas.
More than 25,000 people took part in the voting, whose answers determined the hundred best treats.
The first place went to pate de Belen, a traditional Portuguese dessert consisting of a basket of puff pastry with custard. The first recipe for this delicacy was documented in 1837, when it was created by the monks of the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon. A more modern version of the same dessert, pate de nata, took second place in the rating.
In third place is a Malaysian dish — karipap. These are small pies that can be baked or deep fried. It is believed that the fragrant treat was invented by the Malays.
