Meet me at the bridge: ATOR named the most beautiful and little-known bridges in Russia

Встретимся на мосту: АТОР назвали красивые и малоизвестные мосты России

Unusual places to look at are bridges. The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) presented the beautiful and little-known bridges of Russia.

Queen Louise Bridge

It is located in Sovetsk (formerly Tilsit), 100 km from Kaliningrad. Built in 1907 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Peace of Tilsit, it is named after the Prussian Queen, who participated in the negotiations between Alexander I and Napoleon.

Arch bridge over the Krasnaya River

Located in the village of Tokarevka, this bridge was built in 1901 and is the tallest in the Kaliningrad region (25 m). At the beginning of the 20th century, the imperial train of Kaiser Wilhelm II passed through it.

Devil’s Bridge

It is located in the Vasilevo Museum complex in the Tver region. This boulder bridge, built more than two centuries ago, is supported by the weight of boulders, without the use of fasteners.

Berezuisky viaduct

The oldest stone viaduct in Russia is located in Kaluga. The construction was completed in 1785, the bridge is a historical monument and the only one in the country built according to the principles of ancient Roman overpasses.

The Mokrinsky Railway Bridge

is located in the village of Mokry, Chuvashia, and was completed in 1914. At the time of construction, it was the second largest reinforced concrete structure in Europe and resembles the Glenfinnan Viaduct from Harry Potter.

Glebovsky Bridge

Built during the construction of the Ryazan Kremlin, this bridge burned down in the 17th century, and the existing version appeared two centuries later. Nearby is the Cathedral Bell Tower, which creates the illusion that it stands on a bridge.

Derzhavinsky Bridge in Tambov

Built in 1788 across the Studenets River, the bridge was named after Gavrila Derzhavin. It originally had three arches, but two were filled in. It became an architectural monument in 2015.

The first single-span arch bridge

It is located in Borovichi, Novgorod region. Now it is pedestrian and popular among tourists who like to take pictures against the background of interesting objects.

The abandoned three-arch bridge

is located on the M-10 highway between Vyshny Volochok and Veliky Novgorod. It can be found by walking about one kilometer from the village of Kolokoly.

Abandoned bridges of Krasnodar region

The Veselovsky and Nikolaevsky bridges were built in 1915-1916 for the railway from Armavir to Tuapse. After the closure of the line, they became popular places for photo shoots among tourists.

Here are a couple more unusual places in Russia (this time with mysticism!).
