Editorial staff Oh!Blog recently went on a gastronomic press tour in St. Petersburg and fell in love with this city again, opening it from a new restaurant and bar side. It turns out that a walk through St. Petersburg establishments easily turns into a journey through the cuisines of different countries and continents. We share delicious impressions!

Legendary dishes of the city on the Neva
Before you go to study the author’s cuisine of the Northern capital, we recommend starting from the base and trying all these 17 legendary St. Petersburg dishes.
Mr. Bo: Asia
What to try:Wasabi condensed milk with scallop and foie gras with banana juice.
Address: Manezhny lane, 2.
Average check: 2000 rubles.
Don’t look for the usual rolls here: in Mr. Bo come not for this, but to try out the most unusual flavor combinations. Guests order a set menu called “Sila”: get ready to be surprised by sweet and salty, spicy and bitter, sour and umami (the taste of high-protein foods). Brand chef Dmitry Bogachev explains the idea as follows: “We carefully use the gifts of water and land, combining products and forces that man has learned to tame and direct.”
Not far from Mr. You can also stay in hotels with high ratings and discounts under the GURU loyalty program, such as Epigraph, Liteyny, or Emigrants Guest House.
I’m running to book!

Nola Bar: New Orleans
What to try:Typical New Orleans cocktails and jambalaya. The latter is a variation of paella, a traditional New Orleans dish made from rice, sweet peppers, shrimp or chicken.
Address: Volynsky lane, house 2.
Average check: 2500 rubles.
New Orleans in the American state of Louisiana has given the world jazz and amazing cocktails. Many of them, for example, “Sazerak” and “Ramos gin-fiz”, can be tried in the St. Petersburg Nola bar. “Sazerac” is prepared on the basis of cognac, absinthe and bitter, mixing the drink immediately in a glass; and the Ramos gin-fiz milkshake, on the contrary, is shaken for a long time in a shaker.
Don’t forget to have a snack: we recommend the already mentioned jambalaya, as well as Cajun shrimp (fried in abundant spices) and a Louisiana sandwich with meat and oysters. You can polish your pleasure with musical impressions: keep an eye on the poster of jazz evenings.
After cocktail libations (just remember — excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to health), it’s nice to walk to the hotel without calling a taxi. Here are our recommendations for housing nearby: the Helen Hotel with a rating of 9.3; Wow Hermitage (9.8) and the apartment “Antre” on Konyushennaya are also highly rated.

Cafe Claret: Europe
What to try:trout in beeswax with spectacular serving, which the whole restaurant will be watching with interest; Mediterranean fish soup, porcini mushrooms with truffle and parmesan foam, crumpets with cheese and — again — with truffle.
Address: 11 Marata St..
Average check: 2,300 rubles.
The restaurant at the Helvetia Hotel took a little bit of everything from different European countries: Italy, France, Spain and Russia found a place on the menu. You can start with an appetizer in the form of dumplings with wild boar meat, continue with a salad with ricotta, Spanish soup with veal tails and Italian pasta, and end the belly feast with a French dessert blancmange.
By the way, if you’re in the mood for brunch, check it out: the chef at Cafe Claret, Alexander Bogdanov, won the WhereToEat Russia 2024 award in this category. Mother Bullet’s omelet or glaze with tartare will satisfy for a long time, and you can order dishes from the menu with eggs and croissants until 23:00. Lovers of nightlife — take note.
The Helvetia Hotel, where the restaurant is located, is one of the winners of the Islet’s Guests’ Choice 2024 hotel award, which means it has a lot of guest reviews and a consistently high rating. We have collected the best hotels and apartments according to the Islet users on a separate page — by the way, there turned out to be a lot in St. Petersburg. There will be plenty of winning objects to choose from!

La Biga: Italy and Detroit
What to try: pasta and pizza — Roman and the only one in St. Petersburg in the Detroit style.
Address: Gorokhovaya street, 16/71.
Average check: 1,500 rubles.
Classic Italy in an elegant trattoria overlooking the historic Au Pont Rouge store and the Car wash. The bistro menu was created by star chefs Anton Isakov (who fed Sarah Jessica Parker and Dmitry Medvedev) and Daniil Sychev, who worked in the same kitchen with Michelin-starred Italians. This means that the guys know everything about pizza and can show the class.
The menu includes Roman pizza made with Italian flour and an unusual square Detroit pizza. As La Biga told us, for a Detroit-style dish, a little honey is added to the dough for sourdough. The result: a thick cheese crust and airy dough, which is especially liked by the Russian audience. After all, guests need calories to keep warm on chilly evenings in St. Petersburg!
There are many wonderful hotels within walking distance from La Biga that offer discounts of 10% to Islet users — you just need to register with the service. We recommend the guest house “History” for a budget trip or Wawelberg and Talion Imperial for a luxury one.

Tondo: simply Italy
What to try: pasta al forno with oxtails and brains (a traditional Italian rustic dish), vitello tonato, negroni (there is a whole collection of them here) pizza Tonda Romana and kalamarata with salmon, which tastes like Philadelphia rolls.
Address: Bolshaya Zelenina street, 18.
Average check: 2200 rubles.
If people stop by La Biga for a simpler meal, close to street food, then they already come to the Tondo restaurant on the Petrogradskaya side to have a thorough dinner with a change of dishes. The chef is the same – Anton Isakov, an expert on Italian cuisine, and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to catch him scurrying between the tables, and it’s easy to recognize the maestro by Beanie’s bright little hat.
The interior takes you back to Italy in the 60s and 70s: the relaxation is facilitated by the soft light from fancy lamps, wood and warm shades in the furniture upholstery. Just don’t relax at all, you still need to get to the hotel somehow. It’s convenient if it’s located on Petrogradka Street — you can take a walk and shake up dinner a little. Recommendations: Wings apart-hotels (rating 9.9!) Simple B46 and “This is Peter, Baby”.

Itameshi: Italy and Japan
What to try:battout (a type of tartare from Piedmont), oshizushi sushi in the form of cubes, steak with hot cucumbers, author’s cocktails.
Address: Tashkent st., 6.
Average check: 3000 rubles.
Do Italian and Japanese cuisines combine? Itameshi knows exactly the answer to this question — definitely yes! They are ready to serve beef tartare with kimchi cabbage, ramen with porchetta (pork roll) and sea bass ceviche in tom yam sauce. Shiitake mushrooms are added to various types of Italian pasta and beef carpaccio, and soy caramel is added to tiramisu. The bar menu pleases with fusion cocktails, including non-alcoholic ones: our attention was attracted by the lychee martini.
The tasting of this splendor is not overshadowed by crowds: the place is located slightly away from the main tourist routes, at the Artstudio M103 hotel on Moskovsky Prospekt. What’s not a reason to book it on the Island and arrange an Italian-Japanese gastronomic trip?

No one has ever returned from a gastronomic press tour without extra pounds. But it was worth it, because, we hope, new places have appeared on your personal restaurant and bar map of St. Petersburg.
