The restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral has ended

Закончилась реставрация собора Парижской Богоматери

Great news! The restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral has been completed in Paris. The 96-meter spire was restored, and the weather vane in the form of a rooster was replaced with a new one — covered with gold and containing capsules with the names of those who helped in the revival of the building.

The porch is lined with light stone, and landscaping is planned in front of the temple with the planting of 160 trees. The nave and the frame of the cathedral have been restored using medieval technologies from 2,000 specially selected oaks.

The interior became light beige after the walls were cleaned, the old organ and bell were also restored and new decorations were made. A modern fire extinguishing system has been installed.

More than 250 companies and 2,000 workers participated in the work, and 846 million euros in donations were collected for the restoration. The official opening will take place on December 7 and 8, 2024, with the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
