Such a bill was proposed in Nepal. To be allowed to climb, athletes must have experience climbing at least one seven-thousand-meter Himalayan mountain.
This step is caused by the widespread popularization of mountaineering. There are a lot of people on Everest, even in dangerous areas with low oxygen content. That is, inexperienced tourists, having paid considerable sums, risk their lives to visit the peak.
If the law is passed, climbers will be required to provide evidence of previous ascents and take a local guide with them.
Starting in September 2025, the cost of climbing permits will increase: you will have to pay $15,000 instead of $11,000 to climb Mount Everest.
