Ysyakh is the main holiday of the Sakha people, symbolizing the beginning of a new fertile season. Traditionally, it is celebrated on the summer solstice and celebrated in several stages. The main one, Ysyakh Olonkho, is held at the republican level. Every year a new site is chosen for it — in 2024 it will be the Amginsky district, 200 km from Yakutsk. Well, on the weekend following the republican holiday, Ysyakh Tuymaads will be celebrated in the suburbs of the capital. The festivities go on all day and all night and include the algys blessing ceremony, consisting of saying a prayer and feeding the spirit of fire, as well as concerts, sports and, of course, the osuohai circular dance. Sabantuy

Where: Kazan.

When: June 23-24, 2024.

Sabantuy is one of the brightest holidays in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan. It falls in June and symbolizes the end of spring agricultural work. In the regions of Tatarstan, Sabantuy begins to be celebrated on the first weekend of June, but the main celebrations fall on Kazan at the end of the month. At this time, concerts of national music and dances are held at city venues, souvenir markets are open, as well as stalls with regional cuisine — chak-chak, shurpa and manty are served. At the same time, various sports and entertainment competitions are taking place. For example, horse racing or quresh wrestling is a traditional belt competition.

“NEBOFEST”

Where: Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Kemerovo.

When: June 23 (Kaliningrad), July 28 (Krasnoyarsk), August 18 (Kemerovo).

“NEBOFEST” is a multisport festival originally from Kemerovo. In recent years, it has been expanding its geography and this summer it will also be held in Kaliningrad and Krasnoyarsk. Admission to all festival events in all cities is free. Guests will enjoy an air show and an aircraft exhibition, various sports competitions and a music program. The line-up has not yet been announced, but Nike Borzov is responsible for the organization. Well, the main feature of the festival is parachuting. The jumping program is being prepared by the Russian Parachuting Federation.

“Medieval days in Vyborg”

Where: Vyborg, Leningrad region.

When: August 16-18, 2024.

Cost: 900 rubles.

Every year, at the end of summer, lovers of historical reconstructions come to Vyborg. At this time, with the support of the Vyborg United Museum-Reserve, the Medieval Days Festival is taking place on the territory of Vyborg Castle. It is traditionally dedicated to the era of chivalry. The program includes parades and tournaments, master classes in military maneuvers and medieval dances and, of course, musical performances by minstrels and folk groups. Horse festival “Ivanovo field”

Where: Ivanovskoye village, Noginsky district, Moscow region.

When: July 19-21, 2024.

“Ivanovo Field” is the largest Russian festival dedicated to equestrian sports. It takes place in the Noginsky districtThe Moscow region and the easiest way to get to the place is from Moscow. The ULTRA100 Sports Festival began ten years ago in the steppes and deserts of the Volgograd region with one ultramarathon distance. Now the event has moved to the city of Volzhsky and already includes 13 races (from 1.8 km to 70 km). In addition, you can compete in cycling, breaking and even esports. The program is complemented by sports workshops, training sessions and music concerts. So not only athletes can come to the festival, but also their support groups.

VK Fest

Where: Ufa, Krasnoyarsk, Sochi, St. Petersburg, Moscow.

When: June 1 – July 14, 2024.

The multi-format festival from VK is perhaps the largest event of this summer. It will take place over a month and a half in five cities of the country — Ufa, Krasnoyarsk, Sochi, as well as in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Moreover, the festival will be two-day in both capitals. His exact lineup has not yet been announced, but tickets are already on sale. In addition to the music program, guests are entertained with lectures and meetings with bloggers and celebrities, gastronomic projects and various thematic areas (for example, games in VR glasses).

ROOF FEST

Where: Saint Petersburg.

When: June 20 – August 4, 2024.

Cost: 1500-2400 rubles.

Another summer music festival will be held in St. Petersburg. Concerts within the framework of his program are given all summer, young and well-known performers perform. Eva Polna, The Moral Code and IOWA will perform in the 2024 season. For the fifth year in a row, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk has been turning into the theatrical capital of the Far East for two weeks. Traditionally, troupes of both independent author’s projects and leading state theaters come to the festival. While the program for 2024 is being formed, however, based on the experience of previous years, theatrical productions from different places — from Kamchatka to Yakutia – will be waiting for the audience. Moreover, they stage both world classics and modern Russian and regional works.

SUZDAL BLUES

Where: Suzdal.

When: July 5-7, 2024.

Cost: 1500-6000 rubles.

SUZDAL BLUES is three days of blues concerts in Suzdal outdoors on the banks of the Kamenka River. Famous blues musicians, orchestras and popular performers perform. For example, Evgeny Margulis will be the headliner this year. On Friday and Saturday, the stages are open until one o’clock in the morning. On Sunday, the program is scheduled from 12:00 to 17:00, but on this day you can purchase a separate entrance ticket. A children’s area, a market and a food court will also be organized on the territory of the festival.

Animation Festival “Insomnia”

Where: Kaluga region.

When: July 18-22, 2024.

“Insomnia” is an independent festival of author’s animation in the open air. It takes place in the forests of the Kaluga region near the village of Rylyaki. In the evenings, specially selected cartoons from all over the world are shown on huge screens here, and in the afternoon lectures, master classes and musical concerts are held. The line-up is likely to feature indie projects known in narrow circles. The festival also features a children’s playground, recreation areas and a food court.
